SPA Architects successfully won a design bid for the Georgian Theatre working with Stockton Borough Council as client, with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund–Stockton Borough Council announced major redevelopment plans to see the grade II listed theatre expanded into adjacent council-owned Georgian Hotel premises.
The renovation delivered much needed bar and toilet space, along with a daytime bar and café space. A steel glass frame was designed to sit at the front of the existing hotel to provide anew entrance lobby and staircase, this was designed to sympathize with the listed hotel and surrounding buildings. Internally added were more toilets and bar space with a mezzanine floor housing a second smaller bar. SPA provided full Architectural and Interior Design Services. Using a range of computer programs to draw and 3D model the entire works helped the client and end users to visualize what was going to happen. Computer 3Dvisuals were created for advertising and press releases. SPA also took on the Contract Administrator role undertaking regular site inspections and the timely issue of contract certification also arranged, chaired and recorded regular Site Meetings during the contract and distributed minutes to all parties as required
